Xilinx ChipScope Demo ChipScope IP Core from Xilinx company enable us to add pretty powerful logic analyser into our own FPGA design. It is necessary to have a valid license for generation of bitfile but not for usage and debugging. The text here shows a realisation of an universal logic analyser in Spartan device on MLAB board S3AN01. It shows the use of Xilinx Virtual Cable technology as well. The maximum achieved sampling rate is 170 MS/s with 9 or 18 input channels. |

Xilinx Virtual Cable Xilinx Virtual Cable (XVC in short) technology is based on fact that the JTAG communication is send across TCP/IP network. On the other site there is program which is sending JTAG command to the connected interface. Network protocol is documented and it is directly supported in ISE and ChipScope development SW. So it is easy to integrate own JTAG interface fully integrated into development SW. |

Xilinx Spartan 3 XC3S50AN FPGA School Board Replaced by an updated version S3AN01B. <br> The school board allows interested people to play with FPGA from XILINX. The board contains LED display, some switches and push buttons. It has VGA video port, PS/2 ports for keyboard and mouse. Because the main chip is not 5V tolerant, the board is equipped with 5V tolerant buffers (inputs). The board is powered from 5V, internal power supply is included. For timing there is one 100MHz crystal oscillator. |
